July 3 and 4 Activities

Looking for something fun to do during July 3 and 4? Check out the fun activities happening right here in Nevada County – Music in the Mountains “Patriotic Pops”  on July 3, a parade in downtown Grass Valley on July 4, and fireworks at the Nevada County Fairgrounds on Tuesday night.

July 3:
Music in the Mountains Happening on July 3, Music in the Mountains will end their popular SummerFest Concert Series with an outdoor concert, Patriotic Pops! Pack the family picnic basket, wave the flag, and honor America.  It’s a celebration under the stars! Patriotic favorites, including Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.”  Gates open at 6:30 pm. July 4:
Fourth of July Celebration Parade: This year’s parade takes place in historic downtown Grass Valley. The parade begins at 11 am, and will include approximately 60 entries. The festive parade travels down Main and Mill streets in Grass Valley. This year’s Grand Marshal will be Craig Hoddy, publisher of Nevada County Gold magazine and Partnership Development Director at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

Fireworks: Following the parade, there will be a celebration under the pines at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Live music, entertainment, food and refreshments are offered. Fairgrounds gates open at 3 pm, entertainment begins at 4 pm, and the fireworks spectacular blasts off at 9:30 pm.  The Nevada County Fourth of July celebration is co-sponsored by Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, the Grass Valley Downtown Association, and the Greater Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce. Admission rates: Adults $10/advance or $20/gate; children 12 and under are free; and military are free with ID.

July 4 Activities

Looking for something fun to do during for the 4th of July? Check out the parade in downtown Nevada City, and the celebration and fireworks at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. The parade begins at 11 am. Following the parade, the Fairgrounds gates open at 3 pm, and entertainment begins at 4 pm. Music, entertainment, food and refreshments will be offered. Penn Valley Rodeo

Looking for some good old fashioned rodeo fun? Check out the 59th Annual Penn Valley Rodeo, happening May 20 and 21, and the 4th Annual Playday on May 22. There’s a rodeo parade, live music and dancing, dinner, and, of course, the rodeo.

All this fun takes place at the Penn Valley Rodeo Grounds at 10513 Spenceville Road (behind the Firehouse) in Penn Valley.

Music in the Mountains Happening on July 3, Music in the Mountains will end their popular SummerFest Concert Series with an outdoor concert, Happy Birthday USA! It’s music beneath the tall pine trees.  Simply beautiful! Visit www.musicinthemountains.org for tickets and additional information.

The festive parade travels down Main and Mill streets in Grass Valley. This year’s Grand Marshals will be Sandy Woods (former CEO of the Nevada County Fairgrounds) and John Hart (photographer of The Union Newspaper).

4th of July Festivities
A colorful parade through historic downtown Grass Valley and the Sierra foothills’ largest aerial fireworks display top the 2013 Fourth of July celebration in Nevada County. The parade begins at 10 am on Thursday, and following the parade there will be a celebration under the pines at the Nevada County Fairgrounds (grounds open at 3 pm). Live music and entertainment, food and refreshments are offered. The fireworks spectacular blasts off at 9:30 pm.  The Nevada County Fourth of July celebration is co-sponsored by the Grass Valley/Nevada County and Nevada City chambers of commerce and the Grass Valley Downtown Association. An Evening with Bill Cosby
