All Week: Altar Show

The Altar Show is happening now through November 6, noon to 7 pm each day, at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.  Featuring altars that are created to honor loved ones who have passed on, the annual event has up to 60 altars, and includes contemporary three-dimensional art with diverse topics, techniques, and media; as well as memorials in the historic tradition. The show is free, but tax-deductible contributions are welcome.

The Altar Show: Renewal and Remembrance, is a community-based, non-profit organization that provides a free annual exhibition, originally inspired by Day of the Dead, that involves and educates the community while providing a safe place to renew and remember in a respectful and safe space.

This Weekend: Bead Show, and an Altar Show

Here’s a look at some fun events happening this weekend at the Nevada County Fairgrounds!

The Whole Bead Show
November 8 and 9
Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm; Sunday noon to 5 pm
Sugar Pine Lodge

Presented by The Whole Bead Show, Inc., this is a small and intimate boutique show with a nice selection of beads, findings, buttons, artisan glass, resin beads, jewelry, seed beads, and more. Open to the public as well as to wholesale.  Discover vintage through contemporary pieces made from glass, stone, metal, pearl, amber and porcelain.  Admission is free.
