Nevada County Fairgrounds And Community Organizations Team Up For Community Involvement Day On August 3

Participate in Community Involvement Day and receive free tickets to the Fair

The Nevada County Fairgrounds, the Food Bank of Nevada County, Foothill Lions, Story Club, Nevada County 2-1-1, Sierra Harvest, NEO, and BloodSource are teaming up on August 3 for Community Involvement Day – a day to donate items to non-profit organizations, while also receiving free tickets to the Fair.  These organizations will be set-up at the Fairgrounds Gate 1 main parking lot on Monday, August 3, from 1 – 6 pm, to receive donations of any of the items listed below.

Those who donate items to the Food Bank of Nevada County, Foothill Lions, Story Club, Sierra Harvest, NEO, and Nevada County 2-1-1 will receive a coupon to redeem for one free admission ticket with the purchase of one Fair admission ticket. That’s two for the price of one!

Those who make a blood donation at the BloodSource blood mobile will receive a free admission ticket to any day of the Fair.

Food Bank of Nevada County: Donate four cans of food. For more information about the Food Bank of Nevada County, visit www.foodbankofnc.org.

Foothill Lions: Donate an old hearing aid or old prescription eye glasses.

Story Club: Donate two new or slightly used children’s books, including chapter books for teens.

Nevada County 2-1-1: Donate new backpacks, new lunch boxes, and new school supplies. Visit www.partnersfamilyresourcecenters.org for information.

Sierra Harvest: Donate new or gently used garden tools, including shovels, rakes, stackable boxes, and small tarps. Visit www.SierraHarvest.org for information.

NEO: Donate paper, paint supplies, sharpies, general craft supplies, ping pong and foosball supplies, yoga mats, and music equipment. Visit www.ncneo.org for information.

BloodSource:  For a free admission ticket to the Fair, make a blood donation at the BloodSource bloodmobile located in the main parking lot (Gate 1) at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. For information and eligibility about blood donation, visit www.bloodsource.org or call 1-866-822-5663.

Feel free to donate to any one organization or all of them! To receive your coupons or free tickets, all donations must be brought to the Gate 1 parking lot at the Fairgrounds on August 3 between the hours of  1- 6 pm.

Coupons (buy one, get one free) received for the donations must be redeemed during pre-sale dates, which take place until August 11. Presale discounted tickets will be available for purchase on Community Involvement Day at Guest Services, Gate 1.

Interested local non-profit groups are encouraged to apply for vacancy

The Nevada County Fairgrounds is seeking a non-profit group to operate a Treat Street food booth at the 2015 Nevada County Fair, August 12 – 16. Applicants must be a Nevada County-based non-profit group. The booth is equipped to produce and serve tempura or some other frozen product that is deep fried. The group must provide all the staffing during operating hours of the Fair, 10 am to 11 pm, each day.

The Nevada County Fair’s Treat Street consists of community non-profit service organizations. Eat at the Fair and you are supporting the local non-profit community – while also eating some delicious local food! There are currently more than 20 organizations represented on Treat Street, including 4H, the Methodist Church, Jobs Daughters, Grass Valley Sportsmen, Watt Park Fire Department, Girl Scouts, and Rotary. Last year, almost $700,000 was generated on Treat Street. Proceeds raised on Treat Street allow local non-profit organizations to provide vital services to our community.
