Farm Day at the Nevada County Fairgrounds

We’re excited for the 3rd Annual Farm Day, happening on Thursday at the Fairgrounds! We’ll have almost 700 kids from area schools on the grounds to learn about agriculture in Nevada County, meet lots of animals, and, of course, meet some draft horses. Thank you to the Nevada County Resource Conservation District, the Nevada County Farm Bureau, and Bear River & Nevada Union FFA students for making this day possible!

Friends of the Fairgrounds: Meet Pam and Bryley

Meet Pam and Bryley, who visit the Nevada County Fairgrounds each week. Pam says that she loves the Nevada County Fairgrounds because of its beauty, and because it’s one of the few places in Nevada County that is flat and paved and allows her wheelchair access so she can walk Bryley. We’re glad you’re here, Pam and Bryley!

Treat Street Booths Available

The Nevada County Fairgrounds has two vacant Treat Street booths, and is seeking two nonprofit groups to operate the booths at the 2017 Nevada County Fair, August 9 – 13. Applicants must be a Nevada County-based nonprofit group. One booth is located on Treat Street, and the other booth is located on “South Treat Street.” Both booths are equipped with multiple counter surfaces and a double basin sink. The group must provide necessary equipment and the staffing during operating hours of the 2017 Nevada County Fair, from 10 am to 11 pm each day.  Food selections for the booths must be pre-approved by the Nevada County Fair.

The Nevada County Fair’s Treat Street consists of community non-profit service organizations. There are currently more than 30 organizations represented on Treat Street, including 4H, the Methodist Church, Jobs Daughters, Lions Clubs, Watt Park Fire Department, Girl Scouts, and Rotary.  Last year, almost $900,000 was generated on Treat Street. Proceeds raised on Treat Street allow local non-profit organizations to provide vital services to our community.

Interested nonprofit organizations may schedule a tour of either booth so they can determine equipment needed and review any repairs needed.  The deadline to complete an application is December 9, 2016.  For an application or to tour a booth, call the Fairgrounds Office at 273-6217 or email .
