To celebrate it’s 100th birthday, the Nevada County Farm Bureau is hosting its first ever Farm to Table dinner on Treat Street at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Dinner will be prepared by Chef Carlos Trujillo with local foods grown by Nevada County farmers and ranchers and served with local wines. This one-of-a-kind experience happens on July 22 at 5 pm on Treat Street. For tickets, visit here or call 530.346.8146.
It’s the all new Truck and Tractor Pulls roaring into the arena on Thursday night of the Fair! We are soooo excited to have this event at this year’s Fair, August 8 – 12! Tickets to this loud crazy fun are available here.
Here’s your chance to work at the Nevada County Fair! We need cashiers, ticket monitors, parking, red shirts, and exhibit crew team members. A list of jobs and an application are available at the Fair Office or here. It’s fun to work at the Fair and we’ll give you two free shirts. 🙂
Look what’s getting ready to bloom on Gold Path! This beautiful path will be in full bloom and ready to welcome the public in 29 days, which is August 8 and the opening day of the Nevada County Fair!
Treat Street Fun Facts: Did you know that the Meadowlarks 4H booth sells 3,000 pasties during the five days of Fair? That’s a lot of pasties! Funds raised by this club during the Fair help with the club’s projects and supplies, helps pay for kids to go to 4H camp, and supports community service projects. The year, The Pasty Shack, a long-time fixture in Sacramento (and featured in the movie “Lady Bird”) will be Meadowlarks pasty provider so Fair-goers can get their pasties on Treat Street! Thank you, Meadowlarks 4H, for all your hard work and for serving our youth!
In preparation for California WorldFest, July 12 – 15, the Fairgrounds will be closed to walkers and bicyclists beginning July 9. The Fairgrounds will re-open its gates to walkers and bicyclists as usual on Tuesday, July 17. This closure does not affect the Main Office, which is open during its normal business hours of Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. For tickets to WorldFest, visit worldfest.net. Family Friday! New daily specials at the Nevada County Fair! Friday of the Fair (August 10) is now Family Friday and that means FREE parking until noon and one FREE carnival ride coupon to the first 500 guests! Yep, we’re pretty excited about that, too! Keep watching as we continue to introduce our new daily specials for this year’s Fair, August 8 – 12. Wait until you see Thursday’s special! 🙂

We absolutely love this year’s Fair artwork (thank you, Kathryn Wronski)! By popular request, these fun art posters will be for sale in our Fair souvenir booth (yep, that’s right, we will have a souvenir booth this year!), along with lots of other fun items. Don’t you just love this artwork?! And can you believe the Fair opens a month from tomorrow?
Did you know that last year more than 7,000 exhibits were entered in the Fair? What a talented community! If you can make it, bake it, grow it, or show it – we have a category for you. Get your paperwork filled out so you can enter an exhibit this year. Details can be found here. Go ahead, Nevada County, show off!
Pack the family picnic basket, wave the flag, and join Music in the Mountains for Patriotic Pops on July 3 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. The MIM Chorus and 65-piece Orchestra all come together in this patriotic program to perform famous works of patriotic music. In addition to the music, this popular community event includes patriotic festivities such the Marine Color Guard, a fly over from planes from Beale Air Force Base, picnicking, food trucks, colorful outfits and decorations, and a few other surprises. Tickets are available at the gate or at musicinthemountains.org. Photo by Kial James.
