Visit the Fairgrounds website at NevadaCountyFair.com and submit a slogan about local food and farmers. Be creative and have fun! If the slogan you submit is selected, you win. The winner will receive a 2019 Nevada County Fair package that includes two free admission tickets for each day of the Fair, a 5-day parking pass for the Fair, and ride coupons.

Treat Street Fun Facts: Nevada City Chamber of Commerce

Treat Street Fun Facts:  The Nevada City Chamber of Commerce redid its Treat Street booth last year and it’s beautiful!  Did you know that they serve approximately 3,000 burgers during the Fair and that it takes about 140 volunteers to get through the Fair? They also serve delicious root beer floats! The money made at the booth during the Fair goes to help fund community events like Summer Nights and Victorian Christmas.  Thank you, Nevada City Chamber, for all you do for our community!

Treat Street Fun Facts: Bratwurst Booth

Treat Street Fun Facts: In the early 1970’s a couple from Nevada City United Methodist Church were traveling in Germany when they came upon a local festival selling bratwurst. They so enjoyed them that they brought the idea back to the church to sell them at the county fair.  The church got approval from the Fair, moved into their booth (still at its original location), and today they are one of the oldest vendors on Treat Street! Each year they sell about 3,500 brats and proceeds contribute to the church, which prides itself in offering support all year long to local and global causes. Thank you to all the volunteers for serving delicious brats during the Fair!

Fair Traditions: Meet One of Our Youngest Fair-Goers

Fair Traditions: Meet one our youngest Fair-goers (three months old), posing here in his “Bushels of Fun!” basket for his photo for the Nevada County Fair.  The 2018 Fair will be this little guy’s first Fair, and he is the third generation in his family to attend the Fair.  His parents raised market steers for many years, and have attended the Fair every year (almost every day). His grandpa proudly shared this photo with us as his photography entry for this year’s Fair.  Says Mom Breana, “He will definitely grow up going every year, as well as participating in some events, just as we did.”  Love! Thank you, Breana, for sharing your family with us!  Photo by Breana Whitear.
