Enter the Gingerbread House and Holiday Ornament Contest

There are two fun contests for holiday bakers, decorators and crafters to enter at this year’s Country Christmas Faire – a gingerbread house competition and the new holiday ornament contest.

The gingerbread house competition includes divisions for youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and groups. New this year is a Fairgrounds Building/Scene division for exhibitors who want to create a gingerbread house that represents a building or scene at the Fairgrounds.

Enter your best decorated ornament in this year’s new holiday ornament contest. With divisions for youth, adults and individuals with disabilities, exhibitors can either decorate a premade ornament or make an ornament from scratch. Class descriptions and rules are available here

The deadline to turn in entry forms is Friday, November 22 by 4 pm. To enter, complete the process online here or submit an entry form at the Fairgrounds Office on McCourtney Road. It’s free to enter! Ribbons will be awarded to winners in both contests, as well as Best of Show and People’s Choice prizes. All gingerbread houses and ornaments will be on display in Ponderosa Hall during the Country Christmas Faire.

The Country Christmas Faire features of the work of talented artisans who fill the Fairgrounds exhibit buildings with thousands of quality handmade crafts and unique gifts. Fairgrounds Closed to the Public During PSPS

Due to the public safety power shutoff, the Fairgrounds are closed to the public until further notice. The dump station in the RV Park will also be closed during this time.

Additionally, the Altar Show in the Northern Mines Building (scheduled dates of 10/26 – 11/3) will not be open during the power outage, but please plan to come visit the show after the Fairgrounds reopens to the public.

We understand the frustration of those who enjoy spending time on the Fairgrounds, but public safety and the protection of the facility are our top priorities. We look forward to reopening as soon as conditions permit.

New Pergola at Lions Lake

A huge thank you to Zachary Wernke for building this beautiful pergola for the community to enjoy while visiting Lions Lake. Zach, who built the pergola for his Eagle Scout Project, chose to do work at the Fairgrounds because the grounds represent a big part of his childhood. He’s spent years volunteering, attending events and showing animals at the Fair and he has many happy memories here. He said he is proud of the project and to be able to give back to the community. Thank you, Zachary, for your hard work and service!
