What fun it was to surprise Bill Mitchell at Thursday’s Fairgrounds staff meeting with the news that he has been selected by the Nevada County Fairgrounds Board as a 2019 Nevada County Fair Hall of Fame inductee. The honor is given to those who have provided long-term service and dedication to the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Bill, whom we fondly refer to as “Mitchell,” has provided countless hours (years!) of volunteer service to the Fairgrounds and we are a better place because of him. We’ll be sharing more about Bill later and the many reasons he was chosen; but right now we just want to say – congratulations, Mitchell!
All livestock entry deadlines for market animals, all other livestock, and Ag Mechanics Auction for the 2019 Fair are listed on our website here. As a reminder, Market Goat, Lamb and Swine entries opened today (and close June 7). All entries need to be completed online. If you have questions, we’re here to help.
Introducing Fun Fair Camp, where kids get to create an exhibit to enter in the Fair. Sew a pillow or pot holder, learn photography and prepare a photo to enter, make cookies and take home the recipe to prepare for your Fair entry, or paint a clay pot to enter in the “Farm Fun Planter Pots” division. This fun day camp is happening on Monday, June 24, from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm and is available to ages 6-12. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Stop by the Fair Office to register or give us a call at 530-273-6217. Don’t miss out on the fun!
The Fairgrounds maintenance team has been busy planting trees at California’s Most Beautiful Fairgrounds. Here are pictures of six of the 13 trees being planted. Trees make us happy! Thank you, Rotary Club of Grass Valley, for the donation of these beauties!
