Roasting Chestnuts: Carrying on the Tradition (Thank You, Kathlene Snow)
In memory of her Dad, Dean Pitts, Kathlene Snow will be roasting chestnuts at this year’s Country Christmas Faire. For the past 10 years, Dean (picture here with Sharon, his wife of 64 years) roasted chestnuts at the bonfire at the Country Christmas Faire. When he passed away earlier this year, Kathlene decided to step in to continue the tradition. According to Kathlene, “the Country Christmas Faire was his event. He loved the people and the chance to volunteer. He became close friends with the firefighters who watched over the fire pit, and he loved visiting with the public. He never knew a stranger. His shoes will be hard to fill, but I am thankful for the opportunity. It will be healing for us all.” When visiting the Country Christmas Faire, be sure to stop by the community bonfire, try a roasted chestnut, and say hi to Kathlene (who will be wearing her Dad’s hat).
Decorating Santa’s Village: Thank You, Tall Pines Nursery School
Today, these sweet kids from Tall Pines Nursery School decorated the trees in Santa’s Village at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Our little friends do an excellent job of preparing Santa’s Village for the Country Christmas Faire, which begins next Friday, November 24. Thank you to our little friends for their holiday spirit and joy!
Thank You, Nevada County Fairgrounds Foundation!
