Califia Cafe’ to Open Monday at the Fairgrounds

The Nevada County Fairgrounds is partnering with locally-owned BrewBakers Coffee and Pastry House to open Califia Café – a coffee trolley serving coffee, specialty drinks, and baked goods – at Gate 1 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.   Califia Café will open to the public for the first time on Monday, August 1, from 11 am to 6 pm at Community Involvement Day (a day to donate to nonprofit organizations while also receiving discounts on Fair tickets) at the Fairgrounds; and will then be open during the week from 7 – 11 am.

Califia Café, built using the trolley donated to the Fairgrounds from Bob and Debbe Peterson of Lazy Dog Ice Cream, is sponsored by Califia Farms and operated by BrewBakers. Beginning August 2, it will be open to the public from 7 – 11 am, Monday through Friday, at Gate 1 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.  During the Fair, the trolley will be relocated to the RV Park, and then returned to Gate 1 after the Fair. It will be open year-round and will serve coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, specialty drinks and pastries.

“We’re thrilled to be making Califia Café a reality,” said Rea Callender, CEO of the Nevada County Fairgrounds. “The Fairgrounds is known as a gathering place for the community and this is one more way of welcoming our community to the Fairgrounds and encouraging visitors to stop by for a cup of coffee and enjoy the beautiful grounds.”

“BrewBakers is excited to be partnering with the Nevada County Fairgrounds and opening the café,” said Robin Spencer, owner of BrewBakers of Grass Valley. “This provides an additional location for us to serve our specialty coffee and pastries; and it allows us to be part of the Fairgrounds, which has been an important part of our family for many years.”

Next time you’re visiting the Fairgrounds for an event, walking or biking the grounds, or just driving by – stop by and enjoy your favorite coffee drink at Califia Café at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

For a coupon for 20% off your first coffee, visit the Fair Office. The Fairgrounds are located at 11228 McCourtney Road in Grass Valley.

Decorating “Boots” for the Fair

How cute are these children at Nevada County library’s Bear River branch decorating “boots” for the display at the Nevada County Fair?! This is part of the library’s summer reading program, where children read book and create artwork that will be on display at the Fair. Additionally, children who complete the program will receive two free carnival rides at this year’s Fair. Good job, kids!
