Terror at the FEARgrounds happens this week – Tuesday through Friday from 6 – 9 pm at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Tickets on sale at the door or in advance at the Fairgrounds, SPD markets, Raley’s, or online. We heard a lot of screaming at this event last year. Be there and be scared!!

Paint the Town Pink This Thursday
Paint the Town Pink is happening this Thursday, October 23, at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Hosted by The Union, this event has raised more than $137,000 during the past 7 years for the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation for the advancement of local breast cancer care.
This fun-filled night, honoring the women of Nevada County, has truly become a popular, one-of-a-kind event where women of all ages enjoy a fun night and support a great cause at the same time! The event includes food and wine sampling; entertainment, including a fashion show with local doctor escorts; and a fantastic silent auction – all while supporting our local healthcare community.
Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Your ticket includes admission into the event, all samples and entertainment, a tote bag, and a wine glass (if you’re over 21). Tickets are also available at the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, at the Foundation office, and at Briar Patch Co-Op.

This Weekend: Winterfaire Craft Show and an Alpaca Show

This weekend, we’ve got two fun, unique events happening at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.
Winterfaire Craft Show
Happening Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm at the Main Street Center, the Winterfaire Craft Show features quality hand-crafted items, including art, jewelry, toys, gourds, hand woven items, wood crafts, and metal work. There are also door prizes, a dining area, and free activities for children. The cost for admission is $2, or bring a can of food and admission is only $1. Parking is free. Gold Country Gathering Alpaca Show
Visit the Alpaca Show, happening Saturday and Sunday in the Livestock areas at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. There will be vendors, a fleece show, and a silent auction. Admission is free. Additional information can be found here.

Dr. Mortis’ Terror at the Feargrounds
Nevada County’s favorite haunted house, Dr. Mortis’ Terror at the FEARgrounds, is returning to the Nevada County Fairgrounds for four days at the end of October. Dr. Mortis and his fiendish crew of Terrorsmiths are out to make this year the best ever. With 3 haunted houses, 59 rooms, and 60 actors, this is an event you should not miss. There’s also Zombies, Criminally insane patients, and Dr. Mortis’ creatures. Prepare to be scared and to scream!!

Tickets:
$15 in advance; $18 at the door (ticket price includes admission to all three haunted houses)
Tickets available at Raley’s, SPD Markets in Grass Valley and Nevada City, NU Drama Department, and the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Tickets also available at the door during each night of the event.
Parental Supervision for children under 8 is recommended and the haunted house is not recommended for young children.

This Weekend: Gem and Mineral Show

What’s happening this weekend at the Nevada County Fairgrounds? It’s the Gem and Mineral Show! Held in Main Street Building on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm, there will be a huge selection of vendors selling gem and mineral specimens, beads and supplies, jewelry, gold mining supplies, lapidary equipment, and more. Admission is $2 for adults, and children and parking are free.
