In preparation for KVMR Celtic Festival and Marketplace, September 29 – October 1, the Nevada County Fairgrounds will be closed to walkers and bicyclists beginning Wednesday, September 27. The Fairgrounds will re-open its gates to walkers and bicyclists as usual on Tuesday, October 3. This closure does not affect the Main Office, which is open during its normal business hours.
The RV Park at the Fairgrounds will also be closed to the public from September 29 through noon on October 2.
At various times throughout the year the grounds are rented by organizations for large, community events like the Strawberry Music Festival, the California WorldFest, and the Bluegrass Festival. During these times, it becomes necessary to close the grounds to pedestrians in preparation for these various events.
If you are interested in attending the Celtic Festival, please visit www.kvmrcelticfestival.org.
We love our walkers! This little cutie was out enjoying a walk at the fairgrounds with her grandparents. As her Mom said, “Thank you for making the Fairgrounds open to the public.” You are so welcome, and we’re so happy to see our youngest generation enjoying the beautiful grounds! Meet Kate, Nicole and Cruz. These three recently returned to walking at the Fairgrounds after Nicole gave birth (love seeing the five-week-old baby out here). Together they walk 2-3 times per week, and love the Fairgrounds because “it gets Cruz out to ride, they love to chat and catch up, and it’s beautiful.” Why does Cruz like the Fairgrounds? “Because I can ride super fast out here!” Have fun, ladies; and keep going super fast, Cruz!”
Meet Johanna and Merlin, who walk the Fairgrounds every day, rain or shine! “We love it out here because we feel safe and it’s beautiful. Plus, it’s good exercise.” They walk six times around the grounds, and Johanna burns about 500 calories a day from walking. Keep up the good work, Johanna; and thank you both for being friends of the Fairgrounds!
Meet Tim and Ruby, who walk the Fairgrounds every day. “We love the beauty of the Fairgrounds, all the friendly people we meet, and going to see the employees at the Fairgrounds office. Plus, Ruby loves to get treats and to see the kids at Tall Pines Nursery School.” Tim and Ruby have spent many, many years at the Fairgrounds, as Tim is married to now-retired Teacher Debby from Tall Pines. We love seeing you out here, Tim and Ruby!!

Meet Linda, Ronda, Vicky and David. These three sisters (and David, who is married to Ronda) walk the Fairgrounds every day, and “enjoy the sunshine, the green grass, the fresh air, the tall trees, and getting their “steps” in.” They do three to four times around, and it’s been beneficial to their health (Linda has overcome diabetes and Vicky is healthy after a heart attack). Says Ronda, “I love them too much to lose them, so I walk to support them.” We’re so glad you’re out here, and thanks for being an inspiration to all of us!
