Treat Street Fun Facts: Grass Valley Fire Department

Treat Street fun facts! Did you know that during the Fair the Grass Valley Fire Department’s Firefighters Association booth serves hot dogs, polish dogs, Cajun dogs, chili dogs and chili bowls? Last year’s addition of a Frito chili bowl was a big hit! Proceeds from Fair sales support the association’s efforts in restoring a 1920’s-era Seagrave fire engine, and allows them to provide a “broken wheel” (a long-standing tradition) to families of firefighters who have passed away. Thank you, Grass Valley Fire, for all your hard work!

Congratulations to the Fairgrounds Foundation Scholarship Winners

Congratulations to Sam Patton and Bekah Nunez, recipients of this year’s Nevada County Fairgrounds Foundation Scholarships. Sam graduated this year, is planning on attending Sierra College as an Agribusiness major, and exhibited cattle and vegetables at the 2016 Fair. Bekah also graduated this year, will attend CSU Chico (majoring in animal science), and exhibited a steer at the 2016 Fair. Both attended every speaker series event. Congratulations, Sam and Bekah!!

Friends of the Fairgrounds: Elena

Meet Elena, who chose to have her senior portraits taken at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Why the Fairgrounds? “It’s so beautiful and peaceful out here; and I love that my family has been part of these Fairgrounds for generations. I work here in the summer, my Mom works here year-round, my Grandpa used to be the CEO, and both my Grandpa and my Great Grandma are in the Fair’s Hall of Fame. It holds a special place in my heart!” We love you, Elena; and we think the Fairgrounds is a perfect spot for your senior portraits!
