…and out come the preparations for the Country Christmas Faire, happening Thanksgiving weekend at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Three days of fun! We love this event!

While we don't have a Gold Path this year at the N While we don't have a Gold Path this year at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, we love seeing the photos of "our" 2020 Fair Marigolds (grown locally by Weiss Brothers Nursery) planted around the county in various gardens and being enjoyed by so many. This is from the garden of Ed and Carol and it makes us smile and gives us a little piece of the Fair to enjoy. Did you plant some of our Marigolds this year? We know you all love Treat Street, and while we ha We know you all love Treat Street, and while we have been busy behind-the-scenes planning a Treat Street Drive Through event, we have decided to postpone the event at this time. The reasons are many – recent public health directives, health and financial concerns from the Treat Street vendors, and increased food costs all resulted in making the event not feasible at this time. However, we will keep the plan in place in hopes that we can offer this at a future date – when it is safe to do so and the Treat Street organizations are more comfortable moving forward.   Throughout this planning process, we made it very clear to the Treat Street organizations that this was voluntary and needed to make sense for them. We acknowledge and respect that the time simply isn’t right and applaud the Treat Street organizations for prioritizing the health concerns of their dedicated volunteers.     In the meantime, we encourage everyone who was planning to attend to support one of the many local restaurants that are offering outdoor dining and to-go service and make a direct donation to one of the Treat Street nonprofit organizations.  Thank you to our community – near and far – for your continued support and love of all things Fairgrounds! . . . #nevadacountyfairgrounds #treatstreet
Happy Monday! It's the beginning of our virtual ex Happy Monday! It's the beginning of our virtual exhibit contests and we're so excited to see what our talented community creates. This week is all about toilet paper roll art, so create a piece of art out of toilet paper rolls and post a photo below. Specific contest rules: * Limit one entry per person * Post a photo of your entry on this post or send us a message at Reply@NevadaCountyFair.com. * When posting photos, add the first name of exhibitor and age (only add the age if it is a youth entry) to the post. * Entries must be posted by Sunday at 5 pm. * Best of Show and 1st - 6th place ribbons will be awarded * Winners receive a ribbon and a free admission ticket to next year's Fair. * Contest open to adults and youth * HAVE FUN!
Nevada County Fair exhibit contests are going virt Nevada County Fair exhibit contests are going virtual! Beginning Monday, we will be holding weekly virtual exhibit contests. Below is a list of weekly contests, rules, prize information and all the information you need to know to prepare to enter your exhibits. Enter one week or all weeks – the more the merrier!   • Contests run each week – Monday through Sunday • Entries must be submitted electronically by Sunday at 5 pm. • Submit entries by adding a photo to the Facebook or Instagram (@nevadacountyfair) post for the contest or send us a message at reply@nevadacountyfair.com. • Winners will be announced on Facebook, Instagram and our website each week. • Winners will receive a ribbon and a free admission ticket to the 2021 Nevada County Fair. • Ribbons will be awarded for Best of Show and 1st – 6th place for adults and youth. • All contests are open to adults and youth Weekly Contests Jul 6 – 12 Toilet Paper Roll Art Create a piece of artwork out of toilet paper rolls July 13 – 19 Paint a Rock Paint a rock with your favorite design, animal, bug, flower or inspirational quote July 20 – 26 Pet Costume Contest Send a picture of your pet or livestock animal in a costume. Both of you can be in a costume or just your pet. July 27 – August 2 Produce Character Use vegetables and fruit to create a sculpture of your choice. August 3 – 9 Draw Your Favorite Thing at the Fair Create a drawing with paint, ink pens, pencils or whatever you choose to create a drawing of your favorite thing at the Fair. August 10 – 16 Blue Ribbon Entry (Anything Goes) Send us a photo of anything that you would have entered as an exhibit at the 2020 Fair.
