Peaches, plums, cherries, pears, and apples – the 2018 Fair theme is all about orchards – and the Fairgrounds is hosting a contest to find the winning “orchard” slogan for the 2018 Fair. Do you have a catchy or fun slogan that features orchards that you think would be perfect for the 2018 Nevada County Fair? If so, submit it here!
Visit the Fair’s website here and submit a slogan about orchards. Be creative and have fun! If the slogan you submit is selected, you win. The winner will receive a 2018 Nevada County Fair package that includes two free admission tickets for each day of the Fair, a 5-day parking pass for the Fair, and ride coupons.
Submissions must be five words or less and no trade-marked slogans will be considered. The contest is open to Nevada County residents only. The contest runs now through November 10, 2017. For those without access to the Internet, entry forms are available at the Nevada County Fairgrounds office, or information can be mailed to the Fairgrounds at P.O. Box 2687, Grass Valley, CA 95945. No phone entries will be accepted.
Each year, the Fair slogan appears on advertisements, posters, banners and on social media; and is used to determine special contests, exhibit categories, and decorations for the annual Fair.
The 2018 Nevada County Fair is scheduled for August 8 – 12. For a complete list of contest rules or information, visit here.
Here’s a fun Fair fact for you. At the 2017 Nevada County Fair, the Rough and Ready Volunteer Fire Department’s baked potato booth sold almost 4 tons of baked potatoes! Now that’s a lot of potatoes! If you missed getting some of this deliciousness during the Fair, they’ll be selling baked potatoes at this year’s Draft Horse Classic.
Congratulations to all our Fair exhibitors. The 2017 Nevada County Fair had more than 7,100 exhibit entries, and below is a list of livestock and still exhibit winners by category, or they can be found here.
Thank you to all those who entered exhibits in the Fair, and for allowing us to showcase your talent, passion, and creativity at the Fair. What a talented community we serve!
Nevada County Fair officials have scheduled a livestock meeting for Tuesday, September 5, to review the 2017 Fair’s livestock exhibits and to plan for the 2018 Fair.
The meeting will be held at 6 pm in Sugar Pine Lodge at the Nevada County Fairgrounds (Gate 1) on McCourtney Road. FFA advisors, 4-H leaders, Grange leaders, exhibitors and others interested in the Nevada County Fair livestock exhibits are invited to participate. While no specific timing is assigned to each species, the critique order is small animals, goats, beef, sheep and swine.
The livestock meeting is set each year following the Fair so that those involved in the Fair’s livestock exhibits can review and discuss what worked, as well as recommend improvements for the following year.
…and just like that, it’s over. Thank you to our dedicated Fair team, volunteers, sponsors, service organizations, Fair-goers, and our amazing community for making the 2017 Fair a success. Let the planning for the 2018 Fair begin. Photo by Lenkaland Photography.
