Saturday (April 21): Trout Derby at the Fairgrounds

Preparing for Saturday’s (April 21) Trout Derby at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. About 2,000 Rainbow Trout are being stocked in the pond by the CA Fish and Game and the Grass Valley Sportsmen’s Club. Thank you to the Grass Valley Sportsmen for preparing and hosting this fun kids event on Saturday at Lions Lake. Sign-in begins at 7 am; fishing begins at 8 am.  For information, visit here

Call for Artists: Art at the Classic

Call for Artists! Are you interested in showcasing your artwork at Art at the Classic, a top-ranked equine and western art show? Held during the Draft Horse Classic, September 21 – 23, at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, this art show features impressive works of art in a dozen categories and more than 100 works by painters, sculptors, photographers and other fine artists. The show has become one of the premier displays of its kind – attracting both art lovers and horse lovers. Artists are encouraged to participate by entering artwork in the show and purchasing booth space at the show. If you are interested in participating in this show, information can be found here. Home and Garden Show: April 21 and 22

The Union‘s Home, Garden and Lifestyle Show is happening next weekend (April 21 & 22) at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Stop by and get lots of ideas for home improvement, DIY, spring planting, and all those to-do projects. Talk to the home improvement pros and take advantage of special show pricing. There will be more than 175 vendors, lots of food, music, and hourly demonstrations. Rain or shine!

Thank You, Rotary Club of Grass Valley

We love trees and we love our community partners! A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Grass Valley for their recent donation of 15 maple trees to the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Members of the club visited the Fairgrounds on a rainy Friday to see two of the trees recently planted at the RV Park at the Fairgrounds. The remaining maples that will soon be planted at the Fairgrounds for the community to enjoy. Wanted: Flower Bulbs for the Nevada County Fairgrounds

Do you have extra flower bulbs that you’d like to share? The Nevada County Fairgrounds is looking for extra bulbs – Hyacinths, Daffodils, Tulips, Gladiolas, Crocus – to plant in various places around the grounds.  If you have extra bulbs or overgrown “clumps” you’d like to divide, please feel free to drop them by the Fairgrounds Administration Office any time during the season, and we’ll get them planted for the community to enjoy! Thank you for helping us keep our Fairgrounds beautiful!
