The Nevada County Fair is partnering with the Nevada County libraries for its Summer Reading Program. Through this program, children read books and then create a project that will be on display at the Fair. Additionally, children who complete the program will receive coupons for two free carnival rides at this year’s Fair. Information can be found here. Happy reading!
Are you interested in showcasing your artwork at Art at the Classic, an equine and western art show held during the Draft Horse Classic, September 21 – 23? In preparation for the Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival, June 14 – 17, the Nevada County Fairgrounds will be closed to pedestrians – walkers and bicyclists – beginning Saturday, June 9. The Fairgrounds will reopen its gates to walkers and bicyclists as usual on Monday, June 18. This closure does not affect the Main Office, which is open during its normal business hours. Have kids who are interested in participating in a Flower Arranging Workshop for Juniors (ages 6 – 17)? Chicago Park Garden Club is hosting a class for kids to prepare them to enter an exhibit in the Junior Floriculture Competition during the Fair. The class is free, and kids create the cutest arrangements. The class is limited to the first 25 students, and is held on June 20. To register, call Ann at 265-8210.
Let Fair season begin! Online entries opened today (lots of people entering exhibits) and Fair tickets went on sale (already sold some derby tickets and some tractor pull tickets). Sixty eight days and counting!
